15 Seconds on TikTok: Millions of Views and the Sheriff Calling

Fifteen seconds. That’s all it took. My TikTok videos about cheap land got watched by millions of people, sold land within hours, and even got the sheriff calling.

Cheap land, served up daily

I started posting on TikTok in 2019. The idea was simple: show a piece of land, the price, and what you could do with it, in about 15 seconds. “Easy cheap land, online checkout, served up daily.” People couldn’t get enough of it. A Tennessee lot near Knoxville hit 1.5 million views. An Arizona lot near Walmart got 1.2 million. A Florida lot got 1.1 million.

The emails poured in. People watched a video about Florida land and wrote in asking for more, so we sent them the listing and the map of everything still for sale. A broker in Portland wrote to say he was enjoying the TikToks and wanted a lot in Chelan County, Washington. People wrote from the East Coast asking when we’d have land near them, and from as far away as India, happy to learn that an everyday person could buy land in the U.S.

Sold in hours

My Washington videos went crazy. One about land on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, got close to a million views. When a Washington property went up on TikTok, it sold for a bunch only hours after the video posted. That’s the power of 15 seconds in front of the right people.

The sheriff calls

Then the sheriff started calling. So many people went out to look at the land after seeing the videos that the sheriff’s office called to ask what was going on. That’s a good problem to have.

Why it worked

It’s the same reason my YouTube channel beat the big land listing sites. When people can see the land and hear you talk about it, they trust you. Social media is great for getting your story out there. TikTok just made it faster.
